50 Hours Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga is a healing practice that brings the body, mind, and nervous system into balance. It takes time for the nervous system to calm down, and in order to be as completely comfortable and relaxed as possible, the postures are held for a longer period of time, typically 5 minutes or more. We make ample use of the ‘props’ available, including blankets, bolsters, eye bags, blocks, sand bags, etc. – whatever we can find that helps us to be comfortable and supported in the postures. Rather than going for maximum stretch, we are exploring deep, sustained, nurturing relaxation.

Upon completing the 50 hours of Restorative Yoga training, every participant was issued a certificate by Fela. As much as this was an act of recognition and encouragement, Fela also recommended participants to prepare restorative props at home to help them relax and restore. The certification session ended with everyone lying down on their back around the flower decoration to recreate one of the most comfortable postures and to once again let everyone rejoice in the energy boost after deep relaxation.
